SMHD now offering Covid-19 vaccines to 18+ in Spur, Jayton, Aspermont clinics

On Friday 15 people—four of them schoolteachers—were administered the Johnson and Johnson, one dose, Covid-19 vaccine at the Spur Rural Health Clinic.

Availability of Covid-19 vaccines continue to grow in our area.

The Stonewall Memorial Hospital District posted on their Facebook page Friday afternoon at the end of the day the following message: “The availability of the Covid-19 vaccine has increased dramatically and has been authorized to be administered to persons 50 years of age and older. If you are over the age of 18 and would like the vaccine as well, you will not be turned away. Please contact your health clinic in Spur, Jayton or Aspermont to be put on the vaccine waiting list.”

The hospital district gave these two numbers for the waiting list: (940) 989-2875 or (940) 989-3551.

Jan Harris with SMHD said that there would be a vaccine clinic Wednesday, March 17 for second doses of Moderna in Aspermont. Those needing to receive a Moderna second dose should call the clinic to be added to the list.

According to Harris, SMHD has administered 484 vaccines to date in the three-county area of Stonewall, Kent and Dickens counties.

On March 22 in Matador, according to Motley County Judge Jim Meador, the Texas military will be at the Motley County Library Annex to give out either first or second doses to anyone who needs one. They will also go door-to-door to administer vaccines to those who may be homebound.
