After trailing the Lorenzo Hornets for most of the bidistrict playoff game in Post last Tuesday night, the Spur Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter and almost brought home a gold ball.
Spur fans who had packed Antelope Arena were on their feet for the final quarter, as the Bulldogs overcame what was at one point was an 11-point deficit.
The game started with Lorenzo on the scoreboard first, but Spur came back to lead 9 to 6 with 3:19 left in the first quarter. That would be the Bulldogs’ only lead of the evening, and at halftime the Hornets took a 26 to 18 lead in the locker room.
In the second half—specifically in the fourth quarter—the Bulldogs picked up their rebounding and pulled to within four points of Lorenzo.
Spur fans seemed hopeful that foul shots might pull this one out, but in the end, that was not the case.
Lorenzo won the bi-district game 50–46.
