The Spur football teams were back at practice Tuesday morning, after being quarantined for two weeks due to Covid-19.
Friday night, they travel to Matador to take on the Division 2, six-man state runner-up from 2019, the Motley County Matadors.
The Matadors have gotten off to a rocky start in 2020. They opened the season by being upset by Westbrook 58-36, and then in game two Knox City nearly toppled them before the clock ran out as Motley County hung onto to a nail-biter victory 68-67.
In the Matadors’ last outing, star running back Jake Richards rushed for 268 yards and six TDs on 22 carries.
Richards had more rushing yards for Motley County than Knox City had as a team. However, he had to leave the game with what principal James Richards and Richards’ father told the Caprock Courier was a finger injury.
At press time, it was not known whether Richards would start in Friday night’s game.
