Spur City Council awards one-time premium payments to city workers

At a special called meeting of Spur City Council at 10:00 a.m. November 30, council members considered allocation of premium pay to essential city employees from awarded CLFRF relief funds.

After reviewing the information from TDEM and the essential employee proposal, city superintendent Chris Cornett expressed his thoughts on how premium pay would show employee appreciation

Council, led by mayor pro tem Glenda White, then went into executive session to discuss the matter. Upon returning to open session ten minutes later, alderman Fronye Morris made a motion, seconded by Don Wright, to award a onetime premium payment to city staffers Chris Cornett, Joe Gutierrez, Ashley Carothers and John Schmidt in the amount of $2,500 each, and a one-time premium pay un the amount of $250 to Ramon Golden, Hayden Palmer, Katie Tiede and police chief Billy Spears. The motion carried, with all four council members present voting in favor.

None were present for public forum. Present in addition to White were council members Crystal Leary, Rhea Melton, Fronye Morris and Don Wright. Mayor Louise Jones and Alderman Laidy Vasquez were absent.
