DICKENS DONATION: The Spur Volunteer Fire Department has donated its used pumper to the Dickens Volunteer Fire Department. The pumper will enable Dickens to fight structure fires.

The Spur Volunteer Fire Department has donated a pumper to the Dickens Volunteer Fire Department.

Last month, the Spur VFD purchased a “new to them” pumper from the Lubbock Fire Department. According to Spur City Secretary Laura Adams, the pumper that Spur has donated to Dickens gives them new capabilities.

“Until now, Dickens only had the equipment to fight grass fires. Now, they can fight structure fires,” she said.

Adams noted that both municipalities have inter-local supporting agreements, and if Spur ever needed a second pumper to help fight a fire, the Dickens VFD would bring the former Spur pumper to assist in a Spur structure fire.
