The Spur FFA Organization (Future Farmers of America) chapter has not only been a staple for Spur ISD, but an even bigger staple for the community.
Many people who have walked the halls of Spur Secondary have fond memories of being in an ag class, working in the shop, or traveling endless miles down the road to FFA competitions or stock shows. FFA has affected many lives—not only educating about animals, plants, and the world of agriculture, but also how to think critically, make timely decisions, speak publicly, and be professional, and how to be brave and remove yourself from your comfort zone when needed. All these things help mold students into successful adults in the future. FFA has a huge impact on students and who they become after high school whether that’s in or out of agriculture. Parents and volunteers who recognize the importance of the FFA have joined together to create the Spur FFA Booster Club with one thing in mind: to help local students get the most out of their FFA experience. They intend to raise funds that will be provided to the FFA chapter so that they are able to participate in any way possible without funding being an issue.
Another big objective of the booster club is to establish multiple scholarships to help assist seniors as they go to college. Whether it be technical school, community college, or a university, assistance is always great to have. This will also be a tremendous recognition of the hard work the seniors put in through their four-year FFA career.
