On April 13, 2022, the Spur Golf Association held its regular monthly board meeting.
As previously reported, the aerating and sanding of the greens was completed April 8 and 9. We want to again thank all of the volunteers that helped to get this job completed. Work will continue on the course and greens for the betterment of the course for the use and enjoyment of the community.
There is always a need for volunteers to help pick up trash, limbs and debris, empty trash cans, clean bathrooms and clubhouse, and help with any ongoing repairs. Please contact Landon White at (806) 422-0090 or Tyler Luke at (806)269-1606 if you would like to volunteer. You can always just show up and find something to do to improve the course grounds. There is always plenty to do!
There are several golf tournaments set for this golf season. Tournaments feature fun and different formats. Get your teams together and get signed up to participate to get ready to make some birdies and some memories. Contact Landon White or Tyler Luke to get your teams entered for all tournaments except the Golfing with Nana/Debbie Daughtry Tournament and the Junior Class Tournament. To enter the Junior Class tournament, please contact Brandee Hamilton at (806) 790-1967. For entries into the Golfing with Nana/Debbie Daughtry tournament, please contact Robert Daughtry at (806) 422-1058.
The 2022 tournament schedule is as follows:
May 21–22— 2-Person Scramble
$200 per team; meal provided and Calcutta 100% payout
June 4 – Junior Class 4-Person Scramble
$160 per team; breakfast and lunch provided
June 25–26—Golfing with Nana/Debbie Daughtry Scholarship Memorial 3-Person Scramble
$450 per team; eal provided and calcutta 50% payout
July 30—Fat Daddy’s 3-Man Scramble
$150 per team
August 27–28—2 Jacks & A Jill
$240 per team - Meal provided & Calcutta
September 24—4-Person Schamble
$200 per team October 15—Club Champi
October 15—Club Championship
Spur Golf Association board members, along with several members, are selling raffle tickets for a 2022 Club Car Onward as the grand prize. The 2nd prize to be raffled off is a Ping G425 Max Driver, and the 3rd prize is an Odyssey White Hot putter. The drawing will be held on Saturday, September 24 following the 4-Person Shamble. Winners need not be present to win. Get your ticket(s) purchased and get in on the chance to win any of the great prizes.
The Association is taking applications for memberships. Contact Betsy Arnold at (806) 269-7373 or Charla Parsons at (806) 632-9237 or send an email to spurgolfcourse@gmail.com to get your application. The initial membership fee is $50 for new members.
The current membership rates are as follows:
$30 per month for a single membership
$50 per month for a family membership
$10 per month for cart shed rental
The next board meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. Members are always welcome and invited to attend.
