Spur’s first farmers’ market of the season will be held Saturday, April 3 at Rickels Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a special Downtown Easter Egg Hunt to follow from 2 to 3 p.m. (Eggs will be hidden in the park during vendor take-down at 1 p.m., so no cheating!)
More than 25 vendors have signed up to market baked goods, farm fresh eggs, breakfast burritos, tacos, corn, snow cones, pickles, jams and jellies and more.
Families are encouraged to bring their Easter guests and shop for home décor, clothing, decorative items, Scentsy, lotions and potions, jewelry and one-of-a-kind handmade crafts—and also to patronize local merchants and businesses on Saturday and throughout the week. Facial coverings and social distancing are encouraged in close-up settings.
The Palace Theater and The Texas Spur restrooms will be open, and free coffee will be available at The Texas Spur.
Following the farmers’ mar ket will be the first-ever Downtown Easter Egg Hunt, which will start at Rickels Park and include sidewalks and storefronts south to the block with Spur Hardware and Diversions Arcade. Children from walking age to age 12 are eligible to hunt and must be able to carry their own basket/ bag for hunting. Parents should watch young children to make sure they hunt safely in parks and on city sidewalks.
In addition to candy-filled eggs, 30 special golden prize eggs will be hidden. Families of those finding golden eggs should bring them to the Chamber of Commerce booth in Rickels Park and exchange their coupon for a gift certificate donated by participating merchants. Merchants donating family-friendly prizes include Lawrence Brothers, Spur Hardware, Star Feed and Seed, A Touch of Serenity, The Palace Theater and The Texas Spur.
Finders of golden eggs then have until April 15 to visit the merchant and claim their prize.
