Spur ISD approves salary increases, retention bonuses in June meeting

At the regular monthly meeting of the Spur ISD Board of Trustees on June 26, 2023, trustees voted unanimously for a 3 percent salary increase for all employees for 2023-24 and voted unanimously for a 5 percent retention bonus for returning school employees.

In other action the board unanimously approved the current prices for breakfast and lunch to remain the same for the 2023–24 school year. Students eat free; employee meals are $1 for breakfast and $2.50 for lunch; visitors are $1 for breakfast and $3 for lunch.

Trustees voted unanimously to accept the resignations of Hunter Mc-Carter, David Burton, Mikayle Bolton and Angelica Garibaldi.

The board approved unanimously the following new hires on a probationary contract: Kristin Price, Robin Stevens and Tommy Hogg, subject to assignment.

Trustees unanimously approved the purchase of 35 classroom computers at a total cost of $37,362.85.

The board unanimously approved the interlocal contract agreement with Region 17 Education Service Center for selected goods and services for the 2023–24 school year.

Trustees then unanimously agreed to extend the depository contract with Spur Security Bank from September 1, 2023, through August 31, 2025.

The board then convened into executive session at 9:23 p.m. to discuss personnel. The board ended its closed executive session at 10:15 p.m. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:21 p.m.

Members present were Pat Ortiz, Cody Schmidt, Andrew Adams, Terri Wyatt, Matt Humphreys and Casey Smith. Roy Sanchez was absent.
