In the monthly meeting of the Spur Independent School District trustees on April 25, 2022, the board approved elementary school floor repairs and accepted teacher resignations.
Superintendent Craig Hamilton shared with trustees the facilities report and options for the 2022–23 school year, and discussed the possibility of purchasing laptops for high school students using the Emergency Connectivity Fund.
In board actions, trustees approved a budget amendment for the elementary school floor repairs and approved a low-attendance school day TEA waiver for the 2021–22 school year.
Trustees went into executive session at 7:25 p.m. for attorney consultation.
The board ended its closed executive session at 8:04 p.m. with the following action taken in open session:
• Resignations. Trustees accepted the resignation of elementary teachers Cassie Adams, Payton Swieczkowski and Tee Hale.
• Teacher contracts. Trustees then voted to extend employment contracts as recommended by administration for the 2022–23 school year.
• Nonrenewal of term contract employees. Trustees approved (1) to propose the nonrenewal of Trish Minyard, a dual assignment educator, employed under a term Contract governed by Chapter 21 of the Texas Education Code; (2) authorized the board president to execute the notice of proposed nonrenewal on the board’s behalf; and (3) authorize the Superintendent to deliver the notice of proposed nonrenewal on the board’s behalf in accordance with the state law.
Members present at the meeting were president Barry Ferguson and board members Roy Sanchez, Pat Ortiz, Casey Smith, Terri Wyatt, Matt Humphreys and Rick Paschall.
