In the June regular monthly meeting of the Spur Independent School District board of trustees, Stephanie Martinez presented the school board with a certificate valued at $2,500 on behalf of the DKG Gamma ETA Society.
Trustees also recognized all State FFA qualifiers.
In other board action, elementary principal Joe Molina presented the principal’s report for the elementary campus and high school principal Michael Norman presented the principal’s report for the secondary campus.
Superintendent Craig Hamilton discussed with the board the preliminary STAAR & EOC results. He also talked about school safety measures and procedures.
In other board decision, trustees approved the plan for the Spur ISD District of Innovation for the years 2022–27, as presented.
The board also approved a 5 percent salary increase for all employees for 2022–23.
Trustees approved a contract with MSB school services for Medicaid consultation and billing.
The board approved an interlocal contract agreement with Region 17 Education Service Center for selected goods and services for the 2022–23 school year.
Trustees approved the current prices for breakfast and lunch to remain the same for the 2022–23 school year.
The board approved the following staff resignations: David Castellon, Paige Castellon, Michael Norman and Amy Harris.
The board also approved several new hires. The board agreed to employ Colton Rogers on a dual assignment probationary contract for the 2022–23 school year, subject to assignment. The board agreed to employ Tanya Phillips for a probationary contract for the 2022–23 school year, subject to assignment.
The Board convened in executive session at 9:33 P.M. to discuss personnel, and ended its closed executive session at 10:15 p.m.
Members present were board president Barry Ferguson and trustees Andrew Adams, Matt Humphreys, Pat Ortiz, Roy Sanchez, Casey Smith and Terri Wyatt. Others present in addition to Superintendent Hamilton, Principal Norman and Principal Molina were business manager Jodi Martinez, superintendent secretary April Ortiz, and FFA state qualifiers Dusty Hancock, Preston Pafford, Gunnir Bateman and Bucki Smith, and Mr. Been and Stephanie Martinez.
