Prior to the regular monthly meeting of the Spur Independent School District board of trustees on Oct. 23, 2023, Superintendent Craig Hamilton presented to the board in a 7 p.m. public hearing that Spur ISD had received a Superior Achievement Rating on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST Rating). The hearing concluded at 7:06 p.m.
In the regular school board meeting Principal Jose Molina presented the board with the Elementary report, and Principal Tanya Phillips presented the board with the Secondary report.
Athletic Director Tate Clark gave the athletic department report and Tommy Dill gave the safety and security report.
Hamilton then discussed the Team of Eight Training.
In other action, the board unanimously approved Tax Deed 5380.
Trustees also unanimously approved December supplemental pay for active Spur ISD Employees.
The board unanimously approved a resolution for Dickens County 4-H to be recognized and eligible for extracurricular status under CH19 of the Texas Administrative Code, and unanimously approved Dickens County extension agent Amanda Spiva as an adjunct faculty member for the 2023–24 school year. In a related topic, the board unanimously approved the Ag pens user agreement form.
In other action, trustees unanimously approved the West Texas Food Service Interlocal Agreement with Region 17 Service Center for 2023–24.
The board unanimously approved appointing Ronnie Bilberry and Robert Earl Van Meter to the Dickens County Appraisal District board for the 2024–26 school years.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
