Spur library awarded $5K from Tocker

We are excited to share that the Spur library has been approved for a $5,000 grant from the Tocker Foundation. The grant is for adding books, audiobooks and DVDs to the library’s collection. The Tocker Foundation is based in Austin, Texas, and is dedicated to the growth and quality of rural libraries. We are extremely appreciative of this opportunity to enhance the library’s collection of adult fiction and nonfiction and children’s fiction and nonfiction books and audiobooks and the library’s DVD collection.

Don’t forget to join us on Monday, April 5, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for Craft Night. Charlotte Sprayberry will be here to share her skills in diamond painting, a technique that uses an applicator to apply sparkling rhinestones on an adhesive color-coded canvas painting. We will be making diamondpainted keychains. We will have the kits at the library. Please bring $2.00 to help defray the cost of the materials. If you plan on coming with a large group, please let me know so I can have plenty of kits available on Craft Night. I have already heard from several that are planning on being here.

New in large-print fiction: “It was called ‘The Titanic of the South.’ The luxury steamship sank in 1838 with Savannah’s elite on board; through time, their fates were forgotten—until the wreck was found,” and now their story is finally being told in the breathtaking novel “Surviving Savannah” by New York Times bestselling author Patti Callahan.

Also new to the library is “Flowers of Darkness” by Tatiana De Rosnay. It’s billed as “a riveting and emotionally intense novel set in a near-future Paris, where a woman confronts past betrayal and present mystery.”

In Amy Clipston’s “Coffee Corner,” an acquaintance grows into love over a few well-timed cups of coffee. And new in Christian Romance is Betsy St. Amant’s “The Key to Love.”

Check it all out at the library!
