One man was arrested Friday afternoon, Nov. 12, in Spur on charges of aggravated assault as well as possession of a controlled substance, and two others on possession of a controlled substance following a “shock and awe” operation involving eight other agencies, according to Spur Chief of Police Billy R. Spears.
Tito Pesina, 35, of Spur, was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance 2, less than 1 gram in drug-free zone, and also possession of narcotic paraphernalia. He was also charged with of aggravated assault of a public servant/threat, a class 1 felony.
Fabian Pesina, 40, of and Larry Pesina, 41, also of Spur, were booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance 2, less than 1 gram in drug-free zone, and also possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The three are being held in the Dickens County jail.
The incident began Tuesday night around 8 p.m. when Spears responded to an abandoned 911/disturbance call in the 500 block of East 6th Street. Spears arrived to find one woman and two men on the residence’s front porch, all appearing intoxicated.
With backup assistance a few minutes later from Dickens County sheriff deputy Jay Allen, Spears attempted to separate the women away from the men, and one of the men went inside the house and reappeared brandishing a handgun. A third man appeared inside the house.
“During the tense moments that followed this altercation,” said Spears in a statement, “the determination was made to remove the female to a safe location and defuse the situation for the night.”
After issuance of search and arrest warrants, a multiagency response involving the assistance of the Lynn County SWAT team, FBI, Homeland Security, Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety, White River Water District Police Department, Dickens County Sheriff’s Office amd Dickens County EMS, Spur PD executed warrants at the residence without incident.
The operation began about 2:30 p.m. and continued into the early hours of Nov. 13, Spears said.
“The Spur Police Depart ment would like to thank all the agencies for their invaluable assistance in this process,” said Spears. “We are thankful that no one was injured in this event.”
Dickens County Sheriff Terry Braly added that “Everything went smooth and we went in without incident, and no one got hurt,” said Braly.
