Country. Jayton’s Josh Stanaland starts his 16th season at Jayton. Spur’s Tate Clark takes on his fifth year as head football coach. Patton Springs’s Juan Salas is in his first year. Jayton and Spur both showcased their new teams this weekend at Midnight Madness right after midnight Saturday morning. Patton Springs has scheduled Meet the Rangers for Thursday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Ralph Marshall Football Field. Jayton will have Meet the Jaybirds/Meet the Lady Jays Thursday, Aug. 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Jaybird Stadium. Spur will have Meet the Bulldogs/Spurettes on Friday, Aug. 19. It will follow a scrimmage that starts at 6:00 p.m.
Jayton
In the Jayton Jaybirds’ program history, they have 31 playoff appearances, including four state title game appearances and two state titles. Josh Stanaland was selected by “Dave Campbell’s Texas Football” this summer as one of the Twenty Coaches Under 40, a distinction of the best young coaches in Texas.
Last year, Jayton finished 11-2 and made it to the regional quarterfinals. Jayton is returning 10 lettermen this year, including the entire offensive line.
Spur
In the Spur Bulldogs’ program history, they have six playoff appearances. Last year, Spur finished 10-2 and won district outright for the first time in a decade and made it to the regional quarterfinals. Spur returns 10 lettermen this year, including the backfield duo of Corey Hamilton and Le’Zhane Walker.
Patton Springs
In the Patton Springs Rangers’ program history, they have nine playoff appearances.
Last year, Patton Springs finished 2-8. Patton Springs returns four lettermen this year, including QB Michael Garza.
