‘Drinking Habits’ auditions held at the Ritz
SNYDER—The Ritz Community Theatre has held auditions for the 2021–22 season opener “Drinking Habits” by Tom Smith and directed by Chad Goebel, to open this September.
The farce is set in the 1960s at a convent known as the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing. The convent is home to a pressing room where the sisters make grape juice, but two of the sisters have been helping support the failing convent by making wine behind the Mother Superior’s back. Two local reporters go undercover to report if the convent is the one making the award winning wine. A letter from the Cardinal says he will be sending a nun which the Mother thinks is there to spy and shut the convent down. A story of mistaken identities and a mix up on the labels between wine bottles and grape juice bottles make this fast paced comedy one audiences won’t want to miss.
Auditions were held Monday and Tuesday at The Ritz. The cast is comprised of five female and three male roles ages late teens and up.

Post 81st Annual Stampede Rodeo set for Aug. 12–14
POST—The 81st Annual Post Stampede Rodeo will be Thursday, Aug. 12 through Saturday, Aug. 14 at the rodeo arena in Post.
Rodeo events include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, ladies breakaway roping, team roping, ladies barrel racing, ranch bronc riding and bull riding.
The Post Stampede Rodeo hosts other events during the nightly performances, such as: wild cow milking, mutton busting, junior barrel racing and Money the Hard Way.

Each night of the rodeo there will be a band and a dance. Thursday night features Cole Barnhill, Friday night showcases Jody Nix and the West Texas Cowboys and Saturday night the spotlight is on Ross Cooper.
The Post Stampede Rodeo is sanctioned by the United Professional Rodeo Association (UPRA).

Ralls Cotton Boll Festival slated for Aug. 20–21
RALLS—Events are coming together in Crosby County for the Ralls Cotton Boll Festival which coincides with their annual rodeo.
The Ralls Rodeo Parade will be Friday, Aug. 20 starting at 5:30 p.m. at 16th and Main Street.
Cotton Bowl Festival events get underway Saturday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. with the Volunteer Fire Department pancake breakfast. The Ralls Chamber of Commerce is looking for vendors for Saturday.
There will be a Cotton Boll Festival Queen’s contest, a photography contest and a pie eating contest.
