Renewable energy brings revenue to Snyder ISD
SNYDER—A pair of renewable energy projects should bring the Snyder Independent School District (SISD) income over the coming years. The two projects are the $240 million Canyon Wind Farm LLC and the $295 million IP Lumina II solar farm projects.
The Canyon Wind Farm project will be located in southern Scurry County near Mitchell County, while the IP Lumina II project will be located in southeastern Scurry County.
SISD trustees were to meet with IP Lumina representatives this week to address, a 10-year $30 million PILOT (Payment In Lieu of Taxes) program. The program was originally designed for eight years, but company officials determined that state law requires a 10-year payment program.
Representatives of IP Lumina met with the board at the September meeting and explained the changes would not affect the payments.
