Candidates forum to be held in Garza County Feb. 10

POST—Candidates on the primary ballot on March 1 have been invited to gather for a candidates forum on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Post Community Center. The Post Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the event.

Audience members with questions will be able to submit their inquiries to a moderator. Candidates for county offices have been invited to participate along with area, state and national candidates.

Casino Night set for Saturday night in Silverton

SILVERTON—The Silverton Downtown Association will hold a Casino Night fundraiser at the new Silverton Downtown Community & Ag Center Saturday, Feb. 12, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The five-hour Valentine’s weekend event includes a ribeye steak dinner catered by The Malt Shop, a live and silent auction and casino games. 806 Hub City Drifters will provide musical entertainment, and attendees will play Vegas-style craps, roulette and blackjack for tickets used to draw three prize winners at the end of the evening.

Live auction items will include a rifle, a travel package and a piece from Thacker Jewelry. There will also be an opportunity to bid on a Triple J gift card with tickets to a Texas Tech men’s basketball game. Another item up for bid will be a “date in a box” with four ribeye steaks and a bottle of wine. The silent auction will also have a wide range of items from a One-Way Vineyard wine basket to a beauty salon gift card.

More than half of the 100 available tickets have been sold and VIP tables must be reserved quickly. Individual tickets are $115 each. Those interested in attending should contact (806) 847-7081.

Lion’s Club sets breakfast fundraiser for March 12

SNYDER—The Lions Club of Snyder will hold its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser on March 12 from 7 a.m. to noon in the Calvary Baptist Church Life Center.

Pancakes, bacon and sausage with your choice of milk or coffee will be served for a do-nation of $10. To-go plates are available, or you can dine in. The breakfast is all you can eat.
