Ritz Community Theater to stage [title of show] Aug. 12-14
SNYDER— The Ritz Community Theater in downtown Snyder will stage three days of performances of [title of show], a one-act musical, with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell.
The show chronicles its own creation as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and follows the struggles of the author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends during the initial brief (three-week) creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show’s production.
[title of show] was chosen for production by the Musical Theatre Festival and premiered there, in September 2004, in New York City. It later ran off-Broadway at theVineyardTheatre in 2006, earning a second limited run the same year, then played at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre in 2008 for 13 previews and 102 regular performances. Writer/stars Bowen and Bell, as well as director Michael Berresse all won Obie Awards for their work on the off-Broadway production, and Bell was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical.
The Snyder production of the musical comedy, directed by Collin Mitten, has performances August 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and August 13 and 14 at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 general admission, $10 for seniors, $7 for students.
71st Annual Ralls Lions Club Rodeo set for Aug. 19-20
RALLS—Festivities for the 71st Annual Ralls Lions Club Rodeo kick off Friday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. with the Rodeo Parade in downtown Ralls.
J and D Barbecue will be selling plates of barbecue until 7 p.m. on the downtown square in Ralls.
At 8 p.m. the rodeo gets underway at the rodeo grounds. On Saturday, Aug. 20, in downtown Ralls, there will be the Cotton Boll Festival, which will feature a car show by Must Have Classics, a Pie Eating contest, vendors and a pageant.

Mr., Miss Cottonseed Pageant seeks contestants for Ralls Cotton Boll Festival Aug. 20
RALLS—The Mr. or Miss Cottonseed Pageant to be held August 20 at the Ralls Cotton Boll Festival is looking for contestants.
Age categories are: Miss Cotton Boll, grades 9-12; Junior Miss, grades 6-8;Young Miss, grades 3-5; Little Miss grades K-2; Mr. or Miss Cottonseed 0-3.
