First Day Hikes is a nationwide program to encourage hiking on New Year's Day. Start a new tradition, or continue one, at a Texas State Park near you; events are scheduled for a wide range of times and include trails on foot, on horseback, by bike, or even on the water. These are just a few scheduled nearby; find a full list of events statewide at https:// tpwd.texas.gov/calendar/ first-day-hikes
