The road from Spur to Clairemont in Kent County was closed Feb. 6 closed for bridge repairs, saidTexas Department of Transportation spokesperson for the Abilene Division Alaisha Montoya in comments to The Texas Spur. The closure is expected to be in effect for 12 months, Montoya noted that the bridge under repair is located near US highway 380, mile marker 214. Repairs will extend from State Hwy 280 North to FM 2320.
Signage will direct traffic coming down SH 208 from the north to detour using FM 2320 and FM 1228 into Jayton and then using US 380 West towards Clairemont.
Travelers coming from Spur may want to just stay on SH 70 into Jayton and then onto US 380 West towards Clairemont, according to TxDOT.
Travelers coming from Snyder heading north will have to detour by staying on US 380 east into Jayton and then detour using FM 1228 and FM 2320 if they need to get back to SH 208. Otherwise, if they’re headed to Spur, they can just use SH 70 north out of Jayton.
