UIL to extend playoff round certification dates due to weather

The UIL has extended basketball playoff round certification deadlines due to the winter weather that began impacting the Lone Star State earlier this week. Currently, there are 26 bidistrict round games that have yet to be played, and coaches are looking to next week to get their respective game in due to weather-related issues.

According to a memo sent to superintendents, UIL is extending certification deadlines for the postseason and district certification for the boys. There is no plan to determine rounds by coin flips.

A plan could be released on games to be played when the weather permits. The UIL also says in the memo that teams which are able to safely travel and complete games “should do so accordingly to the posted certification deadlines.”
