What’s new with your newspaper, November2022

Starting with next week’s issue, you’ll see a few changes in the newspaper that arrives in your mailbox or newsstand each week. We’re revamping some of its physical features to make room for more content—while holding the line on subscription and advertising rates.

It’s no secret that supply costs have increased in almost every facet of our lives. In the newspaper business, rising costs for postage, newsprint, and fuel for delivery are no exceptions—and many organizations are passing those higher expenses along to customers.

We’ve chosen a different direction, by redesigning our newspapers to a slightly smaller page dimension. Starting next week you’ll see a narrower page, featuring more pages of color. You might detect subtle adjustments in our typography. You’ve already seen a few new bylines over our stories. But you won’t see a price hike.

For more than a century The Texas Spur, The Caprock Courier and its predecessors, and The Floyd County Hesperian-Beacon have served the rural communities of the Texas Plains with information, local news reporting, entertainment, and thoughtful commentary. We appreciate the chance to keep serving you.
