FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL for Jayton-Girard ISD will be Thursday, Aug. 12. Monday, Sept. 6, will be a school holiday for Labor Day.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL for Patton Springs ISD will be Monday, Aug. 16. Patton Springs will observe a 4-day school week, Monday through Thursday, most weeks, with some Fridays required. Monday, Sept. 6, will be a school holiday for Labor Day.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL for Spur ISD will be Wednesday, Aug. 18. An Open House will be held Monday evening, Aug. 16. Monday, Sept. 6, will be a school holiday for Labor Day.

THE PALACE THEATER in Spur will show the classic Western feature “Macintosh and T.J.” (filmed in Dickiens County), starring Roy Rogers with music by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings Saturday, August 4, at 6 p.m. (Note the earlier show time, which will allow for reminiscences and a memorabilia auction at intermission.) Come dressed in your best Roy or Dale duds!
