This summer, the library has been buzzing with generosity, learning, and meaningful connections. We are deeply honored to receive a donation in memory of Billie Bass, whose legacy continues to support the joy of reading and community enrichment.
A heartfelt thank-you also goes to Rhonda Dalton for her contribution to our Home Town Corner. Rhonda donated the locally significant book, “Treasure in Earthen Vessels: A Contextual History of the First Baptist Church of McAdoo, Texas 1919 to 2019.” This beautifully compiled history offers a valuable glimpse into our regional heritage and will be treasured by readers for generations.
We were thrilled to host a special story time event with volunteers from Galaxy Digital: Barbara, Briana, and Emily. Their engaging readings brought delight to the children, and we extend our sincere thanks for their time and for donating the books they shared. These include “Artificial Intelligence for Kids” by Dr. Dhoot, illustrated by Emily Skinner; and “The Great Data Center Adventure” by Ana Franco, illustrated by Titan Fahmi. These STEMthemed stories sparked wonderful curiosity and conversation among our young readers!
As summer begins to wind down, we’re excited to announce that the Friends of the Library are once again providing school supplies for all Dickens County students, including those homeschooled. If your child attends a school in Dickens County or is homeschooled in the county, they are eligible to receive supplies. Simply visit the library to fill out the form. Please have it returned by August 7, and we’ll have your supplies ready before the first day of school.
We are especially proud to share a remarkable story of community generosity: one morning, an Amazon Wish List for school supplies was uploaded by afternoon, every item had been purchased by members of our wonderful community. Additional items will be added as needs arise, and we are truly grateful for your continued support. Thank you for helping ensure our students begin the school year prepared and confident.
Thank you for being a part of all the wonderful things happening at your library. Whether through heartfelt donations, engaging events, or programs that support families, your contributions continue to make a difference.
Remember: Check it out at the library.
