A hunting tradition kicking off every autumn for more than two decades will soon be underway once more—the annual competition sponsored by Star Feed & Seed of Spur.
Star Feed & Seed’s Big Buck Contest is open to all licensed hunters who hunt in Dickens County and the eight surrounding counties: Cottle, Crosby, Floyd, Garza, Kent, King, Motley and Stonewall.
The contest categories are: Overall White-Tail, Straight 8, Mule Deer, Bow and Big Pig.
Top scorers in each category win a monogrammed jacket; the winner of the biggest whitetail wins $1,000 and a monogrammed jacket.
Entry fee for the contest is $25, and hunters must be signed up before their animal is harvested. Star Feed & Seed has the signup sheets.
