It seemed like it just started, but it is almost time for school to be out for the summer. That means that it is almost time for our summer reading program. This years’ Collaborative Summer Reading program theme is Color Our World.
On Tuesday, June 3, we will kick off this year’s programs with a visit from the Abilene Zoo. We are very excited to see what they bring to show us.
Joanna Bateman, who runs our very popular story time for preschoolers on Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m., and one of our newest board members has lined up a program for the next Tuesday, June 10th about birds of prey.
Later this month the folks at Galaxy are planning a blood drive here at the library. I should have more information on this next week.
The Friends of the Library would like to thank Ann Hagins and her family for her very generous donation of her book collection to the library. We were able to add to our shelves some books by some very popular authors that we did not already have. You could tell Mrs. Hagins loved books by the pristine condition her collection was in.
We were able to replace a few “well-loved” softcover books in the Virgin River series by Robin Carr with Mrs. Hagins’s large print hardcover ones. We have added to our collection of books by J.A. Jance, Faye Kellerman, Iris Johansen, Jude Deveraux, Karin Slaughter, Ted Dekker and many more.
I haven’t had a chance to go through the science fiction yet. There are many by Ann McCaffrey, Katherine Kurtz, C.J. Cherryh, Robert Jordan and more.
Most of these will be available in our book sale room.
We will have quite a few James Patterson in the sale room. These won’t last long. There are many Patterson fans that long for their own collection.
