In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County commissioners court on May 12, 2025, the following consent agenda items were submitted to the court for approval: Minutes of the April 14, and April 30, 2025, commissioners court meeting were reviewed.
Sheriff Jay Allen presented the sheriff’s department report.
Stella Carter, justice of the peace, submitted the justice of the peace report.
Rhonda Brendle, tax assessor-Ccollector, presented the tax report.
Danay Carnes, county and district clerk, presented the clerk’s report.
Brandi Abbott, county treasurer, presented the treasurer’s report.
Kasey Osborn, presented a TxDOT report.
Matt Hindman, presented the EMC report.
Commissioners reported on road conditions in their precincts.
The court approved a purchase of filters and oil for precincts 1 and 2 that may exceed the county spending policy.
The court approved renewal of bonds for Sheriff’s Deputy Ray Golden and Ramiro Rodriquez.
A motion to approve consent agenda items as submitted was made, was seconded, and passed unanimously.
In the action agenda, Commissioner Dennis Wyatt moved to approve bonds for Marissa Marquez, deputy county and district clerk. Commissioner Greg Arnold seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Rooster Rainbolt presented National Family Care Cafeteria Plan and Flex Card Plan. Commissioner Mike Smith made the motion to approve this plan and a Flex Card Plan, with a $3,000 investment from the county effective as of June 1, 2025. Commissioner Greg Arnold seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The court recessed at 10:50 a.m. and resumed at 11:10 a.m.
The court discussed preliminary values of the 2025 Appraisal Roll.
The court discussed the protocol for burning the burn pit at the roll-off site.
The court discussed the emergency declaration.
The court discussed an agreement with the City of Spur regarding building demolition and a waiver of liability.
Commissioner Chris Horn made the motion to approve a depository contract extension for two years. Wyatt seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Commissioner Mike Smith and seconded by Horn to approve action on claims incurred against the county since the last commissioner’s court. The motion passed unanimously.
AmotiontopayDickens County Historical Commission bills was made by Wyatt and seconded by Arnold. The motion passed unanimously.
There were no line item transfers and no budget amendments.
