In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County commissioners court on Feb.10, 2025, the court discussed a long-term plan for the sheriff’s office building maintenance and repairs, and scheduled a special meeting for Feb. 20 to meet with the architect.
In other action, the following consent agenda items were submitted to the court for approval:
• Minutes of the January 21, 2025, commissioners court meeting were reviewed.
• Sheriff Jay Allen submitted the sheriff’s department report.
• Stella Carter, justice of the peace, presented the justice of the peace report.
• Rhonda Brendle, tax assessor-collector, presented the tax office report.
• Danay Carnes, county and district clerk, presented the clerk’s office report.
• Brandi Abbott, county treasurer, presented the treasurer’s report.
• Ken Cornett presented a Texas Department of Transportation report.
• Shawna Jameson presented a Texas Department of Emergency Management report.
County Commissioners reported on road conditions in their precincts.
Greg Arnold made the motion to approve consent agenda items as submitted. Mike Smith second the motion, which passed unanimously.
In other action, Dennis Wyatt made a motion to approve an agreement for services with Texas Wildlife Services. Greg Arnold seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
On a motion made by Wyatt and seconded by Smith, the court voted unanimously to approve the cost to repair wall and windows in the sheriff’s office.
Chris Horm made the motion to update the Dickens County personnel policy. Mike Smith seconded motion, which passed unanimously.
Smith made the motion to approve trimming trees in the County right of way not to exceed the county spending policy. Arnold seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Smith and seconded by Wyatt to approve action on invoices incurred since the last commissioner’s court. The motion passed unanimously.
A motion to pay Dickens County Historical Commission bills was made by Smith and seconded by Horn. The motion passed unanimously.
