How would you distinguish your experience, qualifications, and public servicefromthoseofyour opponent(s)? (1) I am not running with an agenda to make any radical changes. I have been very pleased with the management of our county government in years past. It is my desire to do a comparable job to that of my predecessor in Precinct 1. (2) You would never guess it by the grease under my fingernails, but I have served in a management capacity most of my adult life. Most of my work experience is in the drilling, completion and production of oil and gas properties. I feel my business experience will transition effectively into the role of county commissioner. (3) I am grateful to live in a community where I know or am kin to most of the residents in our county. If I owe you money I promise to pay you back next Tuesday.

What areas of public policy or community issues matter most to you?

My hope is to be able to maintain the county services and amenities we currently enjoy. Budgetary restraints and growing regulatory burdens create challenges in that regard. I look forward to working with the court and our residents to meet these challenges.

Office sought: Kent County Commissioner, Precinct 3 City of Residence: Jayton

Hometown: I was born and raised in Lubbock and moved to the Fort Worth area in 1980. Most of my family roots are right here in Jayton and Stonewall County. My grandad Lowell Robertson is exactly 101 years older than my son, Bode, where the both of them were taught in Jayton. Also many aunts, uncles, and cousins call this area home.

Education: BBA, Finance, University of North Texas, 1999

Occupation: Public servant and small-time rancher Family: Tiffany Ham, spouse; Bode Ham, son; Brantley Ham, daughter Interests: Serving the local community, volunteering at our local Lions Club, and tinkering on old equipment.

What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals if you are reelected? How would you distinguish your experience, qualifications, and public service from those of your opponent(s)? (1) I encourage good people to get involved in local school boards, city councils, and any worthwhile local endeavor that can make an impact on their local communities. We need more good folks to get involved. (2) To be responsible with public tax dollars to such an extent that my penny-wise Depresssionera grandparents would be proud. With being frugal there is also a desperate need for local government to help grow the private sector through incentivizing local development and investment. (3) Kent County is a great place to live, grow, and thrive. I look forward in doing my part to keep it that way.

What areas of public policy or community issues matter most to you?

Our little communities are drying up and withering away. Traditionally the government’s role is to tax and provide basic services and support like police, fire, ambulance and utilities. Even those areas that have once been easy to maintain and support are facing burdensome challenges regarding regulation, personnel fulfillment, infrastructure aging and budgetary concerns. As an elected leader of Kent County, I believe that the role of government will need to get more aggressive when it comes to recruiting more residents and attracting more business. With everyone’s help we can maintain our little slice of heaven and grow in our good works. Please vote for Daryl Ham.

Office sought: Kent County Commissioner, Precinct 3 Residence: Kent County Hometown: I was born and raised in Stamford, Texas. I moved to Jayton in 1990, where I still reside. This is where we call home.

Education: I graduated from Stamford High school and attended Tarleton State University.

Occupation: Retired program technician from Kent County Farm Service Agency after 31+ years of service. Since retirement I have started a part-time consultant business, working closely with the FSA offices and producers.

Family: I am happily married to Dale Myers. We have 5 daughters, 1 son and 13 beautiful grandchildren.

Interests: I love to spend time with family and spoiling the grandchildren. I also enjoy spending time feeding and working our cattle.

What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals if you are elected? How would you distinguish your experience, qualifications, and public servicefromthoseofyour opponent(s)? (1) I will work closely with commissioners court to find ways to conduct government business more efficiently and to eliminate waste so that tax dollars are spent wisely. (2) With more than 31 years in public service, I don’t intend to make promises that I can’t keep, but promise to listen to my constituents and team to work through and make decisions that are in the best interest of the county. (3) I would like to give back to the county that has done so much for me the past 34 years and want to assist by doing my civic duty and bring a different perspective to the table.

What areas of public policy or community issues matter most to you?

I am running for the voice of the people. One concern was that the Senior Citizens were currently only offering meals but little to no programs. Another concern was Nursing Home funding and to find ways to minimize spending without jeopardizing the care for our elderly. Serve one another in love (Gal. 5:13).
