KSSL Radio and the Lubbock Elks Lodge are partnering, once again, for the Texas South Plains Honor Flight Radiothon, Saturday, Apr. 26 from 9 a.m. to 5p.m.
The event will take place at the Elks Lodge #1348, 3409 Milwaukee Ave., in Lubbock.
The event raises funds to send area World War II, Korea and Vietnam era veterans to visit their war monuments and memorials in Washington, DC.
This event will kick off with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. All donations from the breakfast will go toward the daily total raised.
This event will broadcast on KSSL 107.3 & 94.1 FM radio as well as www. ksslfm.com, the free mobile app and the HD channel. KSSL will feature stories from area veterans who have previously traveled to Washington, D.C., on the Honor Flight, as well as several ways that the listeners can help.

“Our sponsors and our listeners are very committed to sending these veterans to Washington, DC,” Cathy Jewell Long, owner of KSSL, said. “They have shown in past Radiothons how important this effort is to them. It is important that we honor the men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom. I was blessed to be a part of the Honor Flight as a guardian and it was very emotional to see the reception these men and women received, to hear them reminisce about their service and to touch these monuments and memorials,” Long added.
Silent auction tables are in the lodge, with final bid set for 3 p.m. There will be a variety of great items to bid on.
“We invite veterans to drop by and share their story with us,” Long said. “Those stories go a long way in this effort for the Texas South Plains Honor Flight.”
