LIBRARY NOTES

New DVDs, new books on Spur library shelves

Valentine’s Day was the theme of this week’s Story time. Miss Dee Dee, a.k.a. yours truly, stepped in this week to read to the little ones, but Miss Joanna will be back for the next Story Time. We had some new little ones this week. We re-read “This is Owl” by Libby Walden, which is a great interactive book to read aloud to your children. We also read “Llama Llama I Love You” by Anna Dewdney. After the stories we made owls with supplies left for us by Miss Joanna. After the owls the children made a Valentine card to take home. Joanna and I will be attending a one-day children’s workshop in Abilene in March. We are both looking forward to it.

New DVDs and books available this week at the library include the fifth season of the very popular television show “Yellowstone.” We have the first four seasons as well. We also added the first season of “1923,” the second prequel of “Yellowstone,” which stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

We also have “1883” starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

In fiction books we have added New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel’s “Beaucamp Hall,” the uplifting story of an ordinary woman embracing an extraordinary adventure, and the daring choice that transforms her world.

“Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus has been hailed as a best book of the year by the New York Times, the Washington Post, NPR, Oprah Daily, Entertainment Weekly, and Newsweek. Laugh-out-loud funny, shrewdly observant, and studded with a dazzling cast of supporting characters, “Lessons in Chemistry” is as original and vibrant as its protagonist.

A summer in Greece for three best friends ends in the unthinkable when only two return home in “Before We Were Innocent” from Ella Berman. From the #1 New York Times bestselling author known for her “superb pacing, twisted characters, and captivating prose” (BuzzFeed), Lisa Jewell returns with a scintillating new psychological thriller about a woman who finds herself the subject of her own popular true crime podcast in “None of this is True.”

Check it all out at the library.
