LIBRARY NOTES

New books, new readers at the Spur library

Adventure begins at your library! This is the theme for this year’s Collaborative Summer Reading Program. The summer reading programs are happening on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. at the library. We have two more scheduled for June 4 and June 11. Be sure and bring your schoolaged children for some great educational entertainment. We are also still having story time on Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. with Joanna Bateman for the preschoolers. We are passing out reading logs to any child up through 12 that would like to enter into a drawing we will be having on June 25th. For every 10 books either read by or read to the child they will receive an entry ticket into the drawing. There are three categories; ages 0–4, 5–8, and 9–12. There is a prize for each category. Remember, the more you read, the more chances you have to win!

The little ones love the lift a flap books and we have two new ones for them to check out. “Little Blue Boat” and “Little Red Barn” both by Ginger Swift are sure to bring smiles to their faces. Also for little fingers we have “See, Touch, Feel, 1 2 3” and “Make Believe with Elmo.”

I get asked quite often about what I am reading. I am currently listening to an audiobook on the Libby app called “The Nanny” by Gilly Macmillan. We also have a copy of the paperback available to check out. It is definitely a page-turner. I can’t wait to find out what is going to happen. Bestselling author Tess Gerritsen says, “Macmillan’s breakout thriller is a dark and twisted version of ‘Downton Abbey’ gone very, very wrong.” I tend to agree.

A few more paperback thrillers available are “Don’t Open the Door” by Allison Brennon, “The Eyes of Darkness” by Dean Koontz, and “The Last Widow” by Karin Slaughter.

Check it all out at the library.
