Summer has arrived in Spur! The swimming pool has reopened after being closed for 15 years, and at the library story time with Joanna is going strong on Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and collaborative summer reading is in full swing! The first program with the Spur Clinic was a big success, with over 35 in attendance.
Audra Molina and Belle Smith presented the program. Mrs. Molina read the book “Good Night to Your Fantastic Elastic Brain” by Joann Deak, Ph.D., and Derrick Deak, Ph.D., and illustrated by Neely Daggett. They donated the book to the library, and it is available to be checked out. They also brought “brain” healthy snacks for the children to enjoy.
Next we will have a program by Texas Farm Bureau. I’m sure it will be an awesome event as well.
We received quite a few donations of books this week through our book drop. Thank you to whoever donated them. While we had several already on our shelves, we were able to add a few new to our readers. “A Woodland Miracle” and “A Miracle of Hope” by Ruth Reid are both from Reid’s Amish Wonders series. We also added, from Suzanne Woods Fisher, “The Quieting” and “The Imposter” from her Bishop Family series. From Vannetta Chapman’s Shipshewana Amish mystery series we added “A Perfect Square” and “Falling to Pieces.”
Al-Anon Family Groups, Inc., donated the book “How Al-Anon Works–For Families and Friends of Alcoholics” in both English and Spanish to the library. Al-Anon’s basic book discusses the mutual-help program of recovery including personal stories in this book. Thank you to all of our generous donors and supporters of the library.
Check out these and much more at the library.
