Welcome home exes!
Some Spur High School ex-students graduated and never left. Some, after graduation moved away and moved back after a few years (that’s me). Some moved away after graduation and return once a year at homecoming. It is always good to see everyone having a great time catching up with old friends and reminiscing about old times.
The Friends of the Library are having a fundraiser this homecoming weekend. We will be somewhere in the downtown area with blue-and-gold car coasters and wristlet key rings for sale. All proceeds go to the Dickens County Spur Public Library, so plan on buying a lot of souvenirs.
We have found a new favorite author here at the library. Several of our readers are really enjoying the works of Freida McFadden. We added a few more of her thrillers this past week thanks to the grant received from Texas Library Association’s Strong Texas Libraries sponsored by H-E-B.
“The Co-Worker” is a tense “can’t-put-down” thriller that explores the dark ways the past can echo through the present with deadly consequences. “One by One” is a heart-pounding thriller with lots of twists. Another twisting, heart-pounding thriller from McFadden is “The Housemaid is Watching.” Trust no one in “The Teacher,” a mind-bending psychological thriller. One reviewer said, “Don’t start a Freida McFadden book late at night. You won’t be able to put it down.”
A series that has been around a while, but we didn’t have until recently, is the Sookie Stackhouse series by Texas author Charlaine Harris. We now have all 13 books in the series. The series was turned into an HBO series titled “True Blood.”
Check it all out at the library.
