LIBRARY NOTES

Library Raffle set for

Holiday Marketplace Dec. 5

The Friends of the Library are selling chances to win a 9’ Frosty the Snowman inflatable donated by Gemmy Industries. Other prizes are a $50 gift certificate donated by Lawrence Brothers Grocery, two $25 gift certificates donated by Salt Fork Outfitters, and a gift basket donated by Dana’s Pharmacy.

The drawing will be held Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Late Night Holiday Market held at the Spur Senior Citizens Center. Frosty is on display at the library until the night of the drawing. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased from any library board member or at the library. We will sell tickets up until the time of the drawing, and you do not have to be present to win.

South Plains Electric has awarded the library an Operation Round Up Community Grant of $1,500. This grant money will be used for programming for our Collaborative Summer Reading Project and new books for the children relating to this coming year’s theme, Color our World. Any remaining funding will go toward new large print books for the library. We are very grateful to South Plains Electric Cooperative and the Operation Round Up board for this honor. I am very excited to say we have something very special lined up for summer reading next year. I will give more details later about this.

Donated to the library this week was “The Night the River Wept,” a novel by Lo Patrick. A Booklist starred reviewer said, “An increasingly gripping southern-crime tale for readers of Where the Crawdads Sing and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”.

Check it out at the library.
