Overdue books? Fine forgiveness with food donation at Spur library

I have always said that Dickens County may not be the richest county financially, but we may be the richest county in the hearts of our citizens.

The Lawrence Brothers $50 gift certificate raffled off during Late Night Holiday Shopping by the Friends of the Library was re-gifted and donated to the Spur Food Bank. What a wonderful gesture during the holiday season.

The Friends of the Library’s raffle was able to bring in over $700 to help the library with their operating expenses. We would like to help the food bank as well. If you have overdue books, bring them in along with a non-perishable food item and no matter how long you have had the books past their due date all fines will be forgiven. This applies only to late fees not for lost books.

All non-perishable food items will be taken to the Spur Food Bank. This offer stands throughout the rest of this year.

Generosity is another trait of our citizens. We received a donation of board books. These are books that are sturdy and made especially for toddlers. Some of the titles we received in this donation are “Red Wagon” by Renata Liwska, “Leaves” by David Ezra Stein, “Pirates Don’t Take Baths” by John Segal, “1-2-3 Peas” by Keith Baker, “Little Green Peas” by Keith Baker, “Zoo Borns” by Andrew Bleiman, “Sleepyheads” by Sandra J. Howatt, “Where’s Spot” by Eric Hill, “Fluffy Animals” “You’re my Little Baby” by Eric Carle, “The Wizard of Oz” by Frank Baum, “The Goodnight Train Rolls On” by June Sobel, and “The Little School Bus” by Margery Cuyler.

Check it all out at the library.
