LIBRARY NOTES

New books, new readers at the Spur library

A gift of a donation was recently made to the library in memory of Flora Mae Smith of Spur and Richard Taylor of Dickens. Our condolences go out to their families. Mr. Taylor’s mother, Marva Owens, has been a loyal patron since moving to Dickens a few years ago to help her son with his many medical issues Mrs. Owens has plans to move near her other children in Oklahoma. She will be missed at the library.

The library has acquired a few DVDs recently. We added 1992’s “Pure Country” starring country music icon George Strait.

Discover the immortal story of Bella, Edward, and Jacob in “The Twilight Saga” 5 movie set on 2 DVDs. It is on order and should be here soon. The movies on the set are “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” “Breaking Dawn: part one,” and “Breaking Dawn: part two.” The movies are based on the books with the same titles by Stephanie Meyer.

In large print we have the exhilarating debut novel by Kaliane Bradley, “The Ministry of Time.” It is a time travel romance, a spy thriller, a workplace comedy and an ingenious exploration of the nature of power and the potential for love to change it all.

We have more titles of the children’s books that were donated a few weeks ago. They are “Good Night Baboon: A Counting Book” by Sabrina Moyle; “Best Loved Children’s Stories”; “Why Don’t Things Fall Up?,” a Disney book; “Ten Twinkly Stars” by Russell Julian; “Daddy’s Girl” by Greg Huett; “Bad Pirate” by Kari-Lynn Winters; “Ocean Life” by Jill McDonald; “Friendly Fish” by Wendy McLean; and “Goodnight World” by Willa Pearlman.

Check it out at the library.
