LIBRARY NOTES

Meet the Dickens, Spur candidates Apr. 21

The Dickens County-Spur Public Library will be the place to be on Monday, April 21 between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. if you would like to meet the candidates running for local offices. Along with the library, the event, Meet the Candidates, is hosted by the Texas Spur and the Spur Area Chamber of Commerce.

This will be your chance as a voter to meet and ask questions of some of the candidates. There will also be a free hot dog supper for attendees.

All candidates should be there, including candidates for Mayor of Dickens, Mayor of Spur, and Spur ISD.

We are planning on having a game night in the near future here at the library. It has been a few years since we played the “Minute To Win It” game on game night. We really had a lot of fun and laughs and would like to do it again. If you have any suggestions on games or dates please call me at the library at (806) 271-3714.

Thanks to a donation, we have a few more children’s books available to check out. For the little ones we have the board books “This Little President: A Presidential Primer” by Joan Holub and Daniel Roode, “Llama Llama Zippity-Zoom” by Anna Dewdney, and “Busy Busy People” by Richard Scarry and “Fingerwiggly Elephants” by Felicity Brooks and illustrated by Elsa Martins.

In easy readers we have “The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round: And Other Nursery Rhymes,” and “Smick!” by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Juana Medina.

The Friends of the Library are grateful for the many donations received in the memory of Billie Bass. Billie was an avid reader and a member of our board of trustees for many years. She
