The Dickens County-Spur Public Library would like to welcome the newest members to its board of trustees: Joanna Bateman, Kaysi Gray and Shannel James. We are really looking forward to working with them.
Thank you so much for your continued support of our library. We are still receiving donations in memory of longtime board of trustee member and avid reader Billie Bass. Billie loved reading everything from a good legal thriller to the Robin Carr Virgin River series. She said that if the writing was good, that’s what mattered most.
We received quite a few books this past week from the collection of Stanley Hash from his daughter, Cody Elliot. Cody said her dad loved anything World War II.
Here are just a few of the titles that will be available to the public for a donation to the Friends of the Library: “Silent Victory: The U. S. Submarine War Against Japan,” volumes one and two, by Clay Blair, Jr.; “Darby’s Rangers: We Led the Way” by William Darby and William Baumer; “One More River: The Rhine Crossings of 1945” by Peter Allen; “But Not in Shame: The Six Months After Pearl Harbor,” the dramatic story of the most challenging period of our history, the coming of war to the Pacific, by John Toland; “The Secretary Martin Bormann: The Man who Manipulated Hitler” by Jochen Von Lang; “Blitzkrieg: From the Rise of Hitler to the Fall of Dunkirk” by Len Deighton; “Enola Gay” by Gordan Thomas and Max Morgan; and “Pork Chop Hill” by S.L.A. Marshall.
