LIBRARY NOTES

Make your library a part of back-to-school plans

We’re still fully stocked with school supplies, and there’s no deadline to get your forms filled out. Our goal is to make sure every child in Spur ISD and Patton Springs ISD is ready for the first day of school on August 12.

Homeschool families, you’re welcome to visit us. We know there’s no standard supply list, so we’ll walk through the items together to find what fits your needs.

Teachers, we’d love for you to come browse as well! We may have just what you need to support your classroom this year.

Thanks to many generous donors, our Amazon Wish List was completely fulfilled within hours of posting! A heartfelt thanks goes to Emily Smith with DC Auto and Cowgals Snow Cones, Rhonda Dalton, Amy Jarret, Judd D. Orsburn, and Emily Atkinson for your support. A special thank-you also goes to South Plains Electric Cooperative for seeing the post and sending a very generous cash donation to help replenish supplies.

For our adult readers (ages 18+), our summer reading contest is still going strong! Dickens County residents with a valid library card will earn one ticket for every three books read. The prize drawing will be held Thursday, August 28 at 2 p.m., and the winner will receive a $50 Lawrence Brothers Grocery gift certificate.

We’re excited to welcome Carrie Blair to the library for a special Medicare Q&A Program on Monday, Aug. 18 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. Whether you’re wondering what happens when you turn 65 or have questions about costs, Carrie will be here to guide you through the details.

A reminder that your library card gives you access to amazing online resources through TexShare.org. This month, we’re highlighting LearningExpress Library by EBSCO Learning, a fantastic tool offering practice tests, tutorials, and career prep for all ages, from elementary students to adults seeking professional certification.

Thank you for being such an inspiring and engaged community. We love being part of your learning and growth!

Check it out at the library.
