Adult Reading winner
The Friends of the Library extend heartfelt thanks to Judy Clay for her generous donation. Support like hers helps us continue serving our community with resources, programs, and a place to gather.
Congratulations go to C.J. Boales, winner of this year’s Summer Adult Reading Contest and a $50 gift card to Lawrence Brothers Grocery! We’re proud of everyone who participated and made reading a part of their summer.
Plans are underway to welcome back North West Texas Legal Aid for a presentation on end-of-life documents. We’re working to schedule the event for late September or October. Their previous visit drew a strong turnout, and several patrons have asked for a return session, so we’re delighted to make it happen again.
School is back in full swing, and Spur’s Homecoming is just around the corner, September 18, 19 and 20. This year marks a special milestone for me personally: the Class of 1975 will celebrate our 50th reunion. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with classmates and reminiscing about our time together.
We were pleased to host a representative from the Environmental Protection Agency last week. She left informative handouts in English and Spanish with tips for families on preventing lead poisoning, along with bilingual activity books for children and a new board book for our collection: “Happy, Healthy, Lead-Free Me!” and its Spanish counterpart “Yo Feliz, Sano Y Libre De Plomo.”
A big thank-you also goes to Nancy (Bass) Allen for her thoughtful donation of children’s books. Her gift includes “Buddy: The Story of Buddy Holly” by Anne Bustard, “How to Behave at a Tea Party” by Madelyn Rosenberg, “What Grandpas Do Best” by Laura Numeroff, and several titles from the beloved Franklin Storybook series. These additions are sure to delight young readers.
As always, we’re grateful for the support, curiosity, and kindness that fill our library every day.
