When a new business opens in Dickens County that serves prepared meals, it’s big news.
On Monday morning, when The Texas Spur posted on social media that Lucee’s Convenience Store had opened for business after months of renovation and planning, within hours, hundreds of comments, questions and congratulations flooded The Texas Spur’s Facebook page.
New owners Brandon and Kayla Boyd were onsite, along with a crew of workers to make sure that the first day of operations went smoothly.
Lucee’s, in the building that was in former times the H & H Partners store at the southeast corner of US Highway 82/114 and Texas Highway 70 in Dickens, offers the full range of products that a convenience store normally stocks, from chips and jerky, to candy and ice cream, to soft drinks—both from a fountain and cooler, to hot prepared coffee, including decaf, to beer and energy drinks. Hot breakfast items such as breakfast burritos and breakfast pizza help locals and travelers start their day.
But Lucee’s also offers medicines, a collection of items for minor car repairs, basic kitchen pantry items, and even bug spray.
Travelers along Highway 82 will be happy to know that Lucee’s has fuel pumps and rather large bathrooms, including four stalls in the ladies’ room.
But of most interest to Monday’s clientele was the Krispy Krunchy Chicken with an array of sides. Hungry lunch diners lined up and patiently waited while fresh hot tray after fresh hot tray of fried chicken was brought out to fill their orders.
Lucee’s also serves Hunt Brothers Pizza.
Their hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and they are located at 114 W. Hwy. 82 in Dickens.
