School will be out before you know it.
We will be having the Collaborative Summer Reading Program beginning Tuesday, May 28, at 10 am. Collaborative Summer Reading is for children aged 5 through 12, but everyone is welcome to join us. Stonewall County Clinic will start us off with their program. The last time they were here they gave a very informative program on brushing your teeth and washing your hands. The children really seemed to enjoy it. I’ll bet this year’s program will be great as well.
On June 4 Texas Farm Bureau will be at the library, and last but not least on June 11 South Plains Electric Coop will be here. We will be having a drawing on June 25 for a prize to be determined. Participating children will be given a reading log, and for every 10 books either they read themselves or someone has read to them they will receive a raffle ticket toward the drawing. They do not need to be present to win. All book logs must be turned in by 3 pm on Tuesday, June 25.
We have new books at the library. New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel delivers a poignant novel about a mother and daughter who must repair their relationship and find a way to follow their hearts in “Upside Down.”
From Robyn Carr, bestselling author of the series “Virgin River,” we have her new novel “The Friendship Club.” Four women come together at a tumultuous time in their lives, forging an unbreakable bond that will leave them all forever changed. Suddenly, all four women find themselves at a crossroads, each navigating the challenges of dating, marriage, loneliness and love. Thankfully, they have each other to lean on. The realities of modern love are far from easy, but there’s no better group to have in your corner than friends who will lift you up, no matter what, and hold fast in the face of any storm.
“The Women” by Kristin Hanna is a #1 bestseller on The New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. The story of one woman gone to war, “The Women” shines a light on all women who put themselves in harm’s way and whose sacrifice and commitment to their country has too often been forgotten. A novel about deep friendships and bold patriotism, “The Women” is a richly drawn story with a memorable heroine whose idealism and courage under fire will come to define an era.
