MEET THE CANDIDATES FORUM THURS., MAY 16, 2024, 6 P.M
and residents—and the public—are invited to a Meet the Candidates Forum Thursday night, May 16, at the Spur Community Center.
This is the final scheduled opportunity for the public to hear comments from both candidates before early voting begins May 20 for the May 28 runoff election for Dickens County Sheriff.
The nonpartisan event is presented by The Texas Spur and the Spur Area Chamber of Commerce, both organizations with altruistic and nonpartisan interests in the success and quality of life in our community.
In the question-andanswer format moderated by Texas Spur publisher Kay Ellington, each candidate is granted the chance to introduce himself on his own terms, emphasizing his own values, messages and priorities.
Audience members may submit questions anonymously via the moderator, with candidates having the chance to respond in turn.
“While audience members sometimes jumps in with follow-up inquiries, the forum isn’t intended as a competitive debate,” said Ellington.
The event gets under way at 6 p.m. at the Spur Community Center, 502 Burlington Avenue in Spur. Light refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce.
