OPEN AND SHUT
Last week the Spur swimming pool was forced to close until June 11 due to what staff referred to as a chemical imbalance in the water, preventing the pool from being clear enough for safe swimming. “We are in the process of draining the pool and starting over because of difficulties balancing the chemicals,” pool manager Kay Stephenson posted on the facility’s Facebook page June 7, revising the message after an earlier post. “We hope to be able to reopen on Tuesday June 11. The pool had also been closed June 6 for a “super shock” treatment, but the water remained cloudy and did not meet testing standards. According to city works director Chris Cornett, water would be released onto the grassy area behind the pump house; this was under way by the morning of June 8. | THE TEXAS SPUR
