Recent clear weather, after weeks of rain and hail, has enabled numerous building and cleanup projects to move ahead. In Spur last week, the Back Door Inn Annex at the corner of Burlington and Harris got a new roof, thanks to partial funding via the Spur Economic Development Corporation. The roof was blown off in March due to high winds, said inn owner Joan Day. Menjivar Roofing did the repair. In Rickels Park, at Burlington and 3rd, stone cladding on brick planters has been done by masons Jerry Ostrander, Tony Palmer and Justin Rennels. John Eric Swenson, speaking on behalf of the park beautification committee, said that there is no date yet set for completion of the overall project, which will include a mural planned by the Spur Ex-Student Association, but Spur HomecomingWeek in September was mentioned as timing for a possible rededication ceremony. | THE TEXAS SPUR
