LESLI RUSH CLARK
It was a beautiful but HOT evening for the Tuesday night scramble on June 4; 35 participants showed up to play and seven teams were formed.
Returning to the clubhouse on fire at 7 under par and a score of 29 was the team of Justin Posey, Mike Day, Janie Day, Bryan Thomas and Floyd Starkey. They claimed the 1st-place money for the week! Way to go, team!
Claiming the 2nd place winnings for the week was the team of Tyler Luke, Aubrey Luke, Reid Arnold, Betsy Knox Arnold and Gene Everheart. They came in at 5 under par and a score of 31.
There was a three-way tie for the 3rd-place winnings among the teams of Shane Shobert, Lisa Shobert, Andrew Bateman, Bryan Beaty and Donald Kaneski; the team of Sue Starkey, Vanessa McGalliard, Russell Conrad, Dana Conrad and Robert Daughtry; and the team of Cammie Walker, Damien Salas, Jason Tanner, James Hughes and Kathy Hughes at 3 under par and a score of 33. A domino was drawn and the Conrad and Starkey teams prevailed on the draw. The score cards of these two teams were exactly the same (what are the chances of that happening?) so it was decided that a chip-off would be in order. Chipping off on the No. 1 hole, James Hughes won the chip-off for that team to claim the 3rd-place money for the week.
Winning the closest to the pin money on the No. 8 Hole for the evening was Gene Solis, who planted his drive 12 feet 7 inches from the cup. Congratulations, Gene!
No one landed a drive on the No. 1 Hole, so that pot again rolls over until someone does.
The next tournament on the SGA schedule is the Fat Daddy’s 3-Man Scramble on July 27. Tee off will be at 10 a.m. and the entry fee is $100 per man. Women are invited to participate in the Hot Momma’s Scramble in Jayton, which will also be held on July 27. This will also be a team of 3 with tee off at 8:30 a.m. and an entry fee of $75 per woman.
Our good friend, Terry Lee, took an amazing drone photo of our course during the Hackers Tournament. The course looks so beautiful. With the recent rain we have been provided this week, it is only going to get better and better. The good Lord has certainly blessed us and we are so very thankful!
I hope you all have a very blessed rest of your week. Make it count!
