The 2nd annual You’re Beautiful
Style Show was held Saturday afternoon, April 6, at the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum with 375 in attendance— raising more than $18,000 for the American Cancer Society.
The event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture from Crosbyton, Lorenzo, and Ralls and the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum.
The day was a comingtogether of community members who are dealing with all types of cancer and were fondly called “kickers and fighters of cancer.” The newly remodeled museum looked fabulous, and museum director Sabrina Roden deserves praise for working diligently on the beautiful setting.
Models participating from across the South Plains and beyond came not only from Crosbyton but from Idalou, Lorenzo, Post, Ralls, Spur, Hale Center, Floydada, Aspermont, Matador, and New Braunfels.
The style show kicked off to the music of the “20th Century Fox Fanfare.” Following a welcome to the group, two Crosby County boutique owners who styled the models in the latest spring looks were introduced: Scarlet Cargile of Tumbleweed Market from Ralls, and Margot Hardin of Stuffology from Crosbyton. Roxanne Cantu of Crosbyton, a 2023 style show model, offered an invocation.
Each of the models had been featured in their own local newspapers and on social media in the weeks leading up to the style show. A shortened version of their stories was read while they modeled their outfits. Between models, tickets were drawn for winners for raffle items and door prizes.
A theme woven through every model’s story was that strength from God was the most important sustainer through the cancer experience, as well as the strong support of friends and families.
The emcee for the event was Angie Winn, morning news anchor and host of KCBD-TV Lubbock’s “Daybreak Today” and “News at Noon.” Winn, who majored in broadcast journalism at South Plains College and Texas Tech University, has worked in media for almost 19 years after being a stayat- home mom for 12 years. During that time, she has anchored on all four major networks in our region, ABC and CBS in Amarillo and NBC and FOX in the Lubbock market.
Winn grew up in West Texas and has been a resident of Crosbyton for the past four years. She is married to Crosbyton High School’s athletic director and boys basketball coach, Rocky Winn. Together they have four children, three granddaughters and a Rottweiler named Zeus.
When introduced to the models before the show, Angie said that that she had been praying for each by name.
Refreshments were provided by 4B Storage, and the signage was donated by Signs on the Go. Shoppers were able to purchase raffle tickets online and on the day of the event. Raffle donors included 4B Storage, Adelphos Cellars, Area 51 Weapons Licensing, Bryan’s Steaks, Fitness Center, Jackrabbit Grill, J Hoffman’sM&MFarms, and Stuffology.
The City of Crosbyton provided publicity funds through the motel/hotel tax fund. Bridgette Robertson designed the program, and Triny R Photography provided the photography. A beautiful balloon backdrop was provided by the Texas Farm Bureau and created by agents Lexie Hinson and GabbyTodd.Fernsthatwere used to adorn the stage were sold at the end for $30 each, also benefiting the American Cancer Society.
