The #1-in-the-state Jayton Jaybirds boys basketball squad pushed their season record to 9-2 last week, defeating the Aspermont Hornets 62-29.
In fact the Jaybirds haven’t lost to a 1A team since Texline knocked them out of a trip to the Alamodome in the Region I, 1A championship at South Plains College in 2022. In last year’s runup to the State championship, the Jaybirds defeated every 1A team, and this year’s two losses come from 4A schools Lubbock Estacado and Lubbock Cooper Liberty.
The #22 in the state Lady Jays defeated Aspermont 35-31 last week as well.
